Trails to Tuckerman Historical Society celebrates 10th year Oct 19, 2017 at the Tuckerman Center about 75 people joined the members to help celebrate. The prayer was given by Judge Jeff Phillips then chili, soup and sandwiches were served a special large cake was served after the meal. A picture of the officers was  made. President Tommy Young thanked everyone for coming Young remembered T.A. Brown as founder of the Trails Mr. Brown born and raised in this area knew it well and wanted it preserved for the future Trails began with one hundred forty seven members paying 25.00 and 10.00 a year for membership. Trails has 9 monthly meetings plus some called meeting a year. Goals and projects are preserving history of the area including Tuckerman, Swifton and Grubbs and surrounding communities . Our website has over six thousand pictures, articles and personal interviews on it. The Veterans Memorial Park is the main project donated land in Tuckerman is being planned with poles and flags already installed. Flags are displayed in south Tuckerman each November with Veterans pictures on them. A student  from Jackson County School is recognized each month as student of the month being chosen by the school Trails presents each one with a plaque and cash by secretary Vickie Williams. A pancake breakfast is given each April to fund the project. A boy and girl is sponsored each year to attend boys and girls state. Display of pictures and articles are done each year at Hometown Days in Tuckerman and Depot Days in Newport. Members of Trails would like to thank each and every person who has shared pictures, articles and interviews and items from our area. Without the good people helping it would be impossible to have done all the great things that has been accomplished. New members are welcome and if you aren’t a member come and see for yourself. Show and tell items are a special treat for everyone. Come join us we meet every first Monday night of the month except summer months at 6:00 at Tuckerman City Hall Court Room.
