The Newport Police Department arrested 46 year old Felicia Young and charged her with First Degree Battery, Class B felony, Monday. Young is being held at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department as the primary suspect in a stabbing that occurred Sunday morning.
According to a police report filed by Newport Patrolman Brian Bickel, a call was received by the department at approximately 7:10 a.m. Sunday morning from Loyce Whorton who stated that “Lisa” Young had come into his residence and cut his neck. Upon arrival, the officer observed an inch long and centimeter deep laceration. Young had left the weapon at the scene.
Young turned herself into the police department Monday morning and admitted she had been using cocaine and marijuana. As of press time, she remains incarcerated awaiting a Rule 8 hearing where a bond will be set and she will be ordered to appear in circuit court.
