An armed robbery that occurred Monday morning at Jordan’s #4 gas station at the corner of State Street and Malcolm Avenue is currently under investigation by the Newport Police Department.

A report filed by Sgt. Shane Rogers indicates the incident occurred at approximately 1:08 a.m. Rogers was first on scene and spoke with Jeremiah Parham who reported he had been at the back of the store on his phone when he heard someone enter the store. When Parham came to the front of the store he encountered a subject who told him, “You know what this is. This is a robbery. Empty the drawer now.”

The report states two cash drawers were emptied into a Jordan’s bag on the counter.

The suspect was described to possibly be a black male, wearing a wind suit type black hoodie jacket with the hood up with neon green on the right sleeve and side of the shirt. Video surveillance revealed he was wearing a neon orange and gray glove on the right hand and a gray glove on the left hand and grey sweats or jogging pants.
