Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson recently appointed Vanessa Falwell to the State Board of Health.
The Arkansas State Board of Health was established by Act 96 of 1913, which serves as the charter or constitution for this Board. The Board has the general supervision and control of all matters pertaining to the health of the citizens of Arkansas. It is empowered to make all necessary and reasonable rules and regulations of a general nature for:
• Protection of the public health and safety
• General improvement of the sanitary and hygienic conditions within the state
• Suppression and prevention of infectious, contagious and communicable diseases
• Proper enforcement of quarantine, isolation and control of such diseases
• Proper control of chemical exposures that may result in adverse health effects to the public
The Department of Health is the state agency responsible for implementing the Board’s regulations.
Vanessa, a resident of Bradford, Arkansas, recently completed requirements of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for an advanced practice nursing master’s degree with a specialty in family practice. She graduated cum laude from Arkansas Tech University, obtaining a Bachelor’s of Nursing Degree. Ms. Falwell is a current member of the Arkansas Nurse Practitioner Association. She is active
in her community, serving as a member of Searcy Junior Auxiliary, Newport Service League, and Bradford Baptist Church. She has volunteered with multiple organizations such as New Life Children’s Home, Healthy Women of Unity Health Board, and the AWANA program at her church.
Vanessa recently joined White River Health Systems in Batesville as the provider of their medical clinic in Tuckerman, Arkansas. She looks forward to contributing to the health and safety of the citizens of Arkansas and to serving the public as a member of the Arkansas State Board of Health.
