Last week the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission released the names of the top five contenders for the first marijuana cultivation facility permits:
Natural State Medicinals Cultivation – Jefferson County

Bold Team, LLC – Cotton Plant

Natural State Wellness Enterprises – Jackson County or Jefferson County

Osage Creed Cultivation – Carroll County

Delta Medicinal Cannabis Company – Newport

Letters were sent out on the same day of the announcement advising the companies would have seven days to pay the $100,00 licensing fee and post a $500,000 performance bond.

The highest scorer of the two, Natural State Wellness Enterprises, is made up of owners including former Attorney General Dustin McDaniel, Henry Wilkins, John Allison and William Young.

The Delta Medical Cannabis Company, who has also expressed interest in applying for a dispensary, includes Jonesboro attorney Don Parker, Doug Falls and others. The group has already announced plans to purchase land from John Conner, Jr. near ASU-Newport for their facility.

The applications were scored on a scale of very unqualified to extremely qualified, judging the personal qualifications of the applicants, the details of their facility, operation and security plans, their packaging and distribution, and personal standards.
