The Career and Technical Education Department from Newport High School held the 6th Annual CTE Completers’ Banquet Tuesday, March 27th, at the Newport High School cafeteria. This year was our first year to also honor the students who passed a career industry certification in Arkansas Food Handlers, ServSafe, CNA, Beef Quality Assurance, and OSHA10.  John 3:16 served a delicious fish fry dinner.  Senior students that were honored as Completers have completed a course of study in either Agriculture: Animal Systems; Agriculture: Plant Systems – Horticulture; Agriculture: Power, Structural, and Technical; Business Technical Education – Digital Communications; Business Education – Banking Services; Family and Consumer Science; Health Science Technology Education;  and JROTC;  The CTE teachers are Steve Davis and Brent Anderson - Agriculture; Tina Gee – Business and Computer Education; Leanne Bradley – Family and Consumer Science; Kathryn Hopkins – Health Occupations; Lt. Col. Ed Jones and 1SG Woody Daniel – JROTC;   The contributing teachers and programs are Heather Hoggard – JAG (Jobs for Arkansas Graduates) and Internship; Tina Gee, EAST and  keyboarding; and Nikki Nicholson, Careers.   Ronnie Kay Erwin is the CTE Coordinator for the District.  Dr. Bennett, superintendent, Terri Kane, H S principal, and Herbert Lewis, Assistant Principal,  congratulate them all for completing a program of study and passing an industry certification. Chris Bacchus, the AG Specialist for the Arkansas Career Education department was the guest speaker for the evening.
