Almost a decade has passed since the day I met Eric and Crystal Daniels. The snapshot in my mind of that first encounter was of Crystal’s amazing personable nature and Eric’s infectious smile. Instantly I knew the couple would bless this community through the love and kindness they radiate. The couple are delightful members of the community with a love of life and each other that is an example to everyone. Eric and Crystal met in 2000 and have been inseparable ever since. Over 18 years have passed and the couple have built a marriage, family and successful careers in Newport. “Don’t ask Eric how many years, because he never gets it right,” laughs Crystal.

After graduating from Newport High School, Eric entered the workforce and the family business. He obtained a Contractor’s License and set out to build an extensive client base. Eric is a flourishing self-employed contractor in Jackson County with a brimming workload and long waiting list.

Crystal graduated from Tuckerman High School and continued her education through ASU Newport. She completed a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2003 and a Registered Nurse degree in 2015 through the ARNEC program. Crystal is the adored RN for the Newport High School. She also works part-time for NEA Baptist. As a Registered Nurse, Crystal is passionate about keeping the youth of the community healthy and informed of things students are not always comfortable talking about. “I am passionate about the kids in our town and making sure they know I am always someone there for them for advice, or when they find themselves in a situation unknowing where to turn, or who to go to. I am so blessed to be able to work right here in Newport, taking care of the kids I know and love. My door is always open and my phone is always on, for whoever needs me,” explains Crystal.

Eric and Crystal Daniels have two daughters, Madison and Aubrey. Madison is 11 years old in the 6th grade and Aubrey is 9 years old in the 4th grade. Both girls attend Newport Elementary School. “We love having a house full of kids whenever we can,” states Crystal. The couple are active in the Greyhound Athletic Booster Club and anything involving the couple’s two daughters. Outside of work and the girls’ activities, the family loves spur of the moment trips. The girls are involved in cheerleading and tumbling, following their parents as Greyhound fans. The couple have been Greyhound fans for years, especially football.

“We love living in Newport and could not imagine living anywhere else. We know our neighbors, the girls’ teachers, the police men and women, our doctors, and most everyone in the businesses in town, including Wal-Mart. I think small town living is a blessing, and people who never get the experience are truly missing out,” adds Eric.
