As I listened and review notes on the time spent with Lisa Delcase preparing for this article, I laugh because the most time was spent her interviewing me. Lisa Delcase is a beautiful and fun-loving spirit that is a perfect fit for Newport’s Ronnie Delcase. We laughed talking of mutual friends and what daily life entailed after the move to Ronnie’s hometown.
Ronnie is one of the two experienced plumbers of Delcase Plumbing. The business is well established and held in high regard in Newport. Ask anyone and they will tell that a home is somewhat cleaner when they leave than when they arrived.
Ronnie is a 2001 graduate of Newport High School where he was a standout athlete. Lisa graduated from DeSoto in West Helena. Each continued their education at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. While living in Jonesboro, the couple were introduced through a mutual friend and “..the rest is history.” States Lisa. The couple married in 2005 and decided to live in Jonesboro. Ronnie made the commute until the family moved to Newport last month.
The couple have a daughter, Isabella. She attends sixth grade at Newport Elementary School. Although she leaves behind friends and activities in Valley View, as well as her love of soccer, she loves NES and is a cheerleader for the sixth grade Greypups. She looks forward to giving Volleyball a try.
The couple bought a home in Newport and Lisa has meet many new people. “Ronnie loves Newport and after the move, I understand why. The people are great. Isabella and I could not be happier.”
Lisa resigned from her job in sales when the family decided to move. Their house in Jonesboro is still for sale, and that keeps her hopping. “Possibly when the move is complete and the Jonesboro house is sold, I would like to substitute in the Newport School District,” states Lisa. “I would love to get to know the kids and their parents.”
The family is busy getting settled, starting school, wrapping up loose ends, and looking for a new church home. Ronnie, Lisa and Isabella have a willingness to assimilate into Newport life. That willingness to absorb and integrate the culture of this small diverse town is refreshing. Newport is excited to welcome home Ronnie, Lisa and Isabella Delcase.
