The Jackson County Library is pleased to announce that a new item will soon be added to our collection. Beginning September 1, patrons will be able to check out a bird watching backpack!

Much like the fishing poles the library already has available for check out, these backpacks will have you ready to plan a day outdoors! Each of the six backpacks that will be available will contain items that need to be returned as well as items that can be kept. There is a tag on each noting what items may be kept and the replacement costs associated with the loss each item that must be returned.

Within the backpack are brochures for Jacksonport State Park and the birds that may be spotted there, a coloring book of Arkansas birds, information on becoming a State Park Explorer, a book on birds in Arkansas, and two pairs of binoculars (one for a child and one for an adult). The book, binoculars, and backpack must be returned while the other items are yours to keep!

For the time being, the backpacks will check out for one week at a time. Please be aware that the total replacement price for the item is $60 with a cost breakdown should individual items be lost or damaged. They are located downstairs in the juvenile area.
