Newport Elementary is full of activities including Red Ribbon Week, Fundraising Raffle, 6th grade Greypup Pep Rally and a visit from the Arkansas State Police. Red Ribbon Week began on Monday, October 22nd as the students dressed up all week in support of the fight against drugs.

Students received their fundraising packets on Monday if they chose to participate. The fundraiser is sponsored by the Newport Elementary Parent Teacher Organization. The prizes include a zero turn John Deere Mower, a $500 VISA Card and a Yeti Hopper Cooler. Tickets are available for $ 5 each. The drawing will be held Monday, November 12th. The PTO will be set up each morning by the office to collect money, give out extra tickets if all 10 tickets have been sold and hand out bracelets.

Newport Preschool received a visit from Arkansas State Police Corporal Robby Stewart and Trooper First Class Dustin Carpenter last week. The officers talked to the students about police officers being friends, their jobs as community helpers, Halloween safety and showed the students the police vehicles.

Newport Elementary had a short Pep Rally for Grades third through sixth grades on Friday, October 26th, at 8:00 a.m. The 6th grade Greypup football team played Valley View in a playoff game on Saturday and were victorious. Parents and community were encouraged to attend
