A Newport man was transported to Children’s Hospital Burn Unit in Little Rock after sustaining serious injuries from a trailer fire Sunday morning.
According to a report by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Donta Steward was asleep in the house at Robinson Addition when he woke up and found the house was on fire. Officers responded to the call of a fully engulfed trailer fire at 227 Jackson 256.
Arkansas State Trooper Daniel Riley was first to arrive and found a black male wondering around in the yard. When the officer approached the subject he realized he was burnt and had EMS dispatched. Sergeants Long and Hurst and Deputy Hulsey responded to the incident and it was determined no other occupants were in the residence.
