Local author Joyce Price saw the fruits of her hard work on hand recently as her first book, “Patience” was the displayed at Holden Avenue Church of Christ as the Newport resident conducted a book signing.
“‘Patience’ was my first book,” she explained.
“My next book is ‘Rebecca, the Veterinarian.’ This book is dedicated to a wonderful lady and her family. This lady adopts children whose parents for some unknown reason can no longer care for them, and I think this is a great need for someone who unselfishly dedicates their life to caring for these children.”
The author adds, “‘Rebecca’ is the story of one of these children. How it made such a difference in her life and how she overcame the tragedy and finds joy in her life.”
While she does not know when the book will be released she hopes it will be soon.
Price moved to Newport three years ago from Little Rock, where she had lived most of her life.
“I had always wanted to be an author and not knowing very many people here in town I found myself with time on my hands trying an fulfill my dream,”
“Talking about a dream, my book ‘Patience’ came to me in a dream and when morning came I sat down at my computer and typed it out.”
Price has several books she is currently working on for future publication.
“Most are Christian-related books, but one is a truly fictional account about my adopted town of Newport and about all the wonderful people I have found here.”
He added, “As I say it is purely fiction, but you will probably see some familiar places named in this book. I hope that is okay with everyone.”
