HIPPY celebrates their end-of-the-year program -- Racing Off to Kindergarten.  HIPPY children and their families from several surrounding towns came together in Hoxie at the People’s Faith Tabernacle to celebrate their accomplishments of the year and to honor those children who will be attending kindergarten in the fall.  Parents and children were involved in box car races, wheel barrow races, and bike races, as well as many individual game booths.
Those graduating from the HIPPY program from Cherokee Village, Maynard, Ravenden, Strawberry, Swifton, Tuckerman, Williford and surrounding areas were:  Audrianna Arford, Dakota Bice, Elijah Brock, Andrew Hardin, Shania Martin, Cheyenne Moore, Lily Morris, Connor Ross, Talmadge Smith, Brittany Winston, William Winston, Josh Wolfe, and Nicholas Wootten.
HIPPY, Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters, is a free, home-based, program for parents to help prepare their three and four-year-olds for kindergarten.   Parents receive free books and lessons weekly to work with their child at home, and monthly play dates allow parents and children to share time with other HIPPY parents and children in the area.
You may enroll your child in the HIPPY program for the fall if your child will be at least three by Aug. 1 or will be too young to start kindergarten this year.  Even if your child is already enrolled in a preschool program such as daycare, Headstart, or ABC preschool, this program may also be available to you.  For more information, please call the Northeast Arkansas Education Cooperative HIPPY Program (870)886-3212.
