The Tuckerman Chamber of Commerce has been very busy for several weeks trying to get a new start.
The Chamber was very active for about 20 years but over the last two years has ceased to operate.
The news officers and Mayor King would like very much to not only bring it back but make it even better. Letters have been sent and phone calls made trying to get as many members as possible. Tuckerman is in a rebuilding mode and the Chamber would like to be a part of helping make the town shine again. They would like to have every business represented, as well as interested citizens.
"We have a lot of work to do and need as many citizens as possible to help us," Reporter Betty Sapp said.
One project the Chamber will be doing is taking over the Flag Program that the Service Club did for years. The Flag Drive dues are $25 per year. Flags will be put out on July 4.
"This not only shows our patriotism as a town, but also gives us the funds for the Student of the Month awards," Sapp said. "This has been a Service Club for years and we want to bring it back."
With several new businesses in town, ribbon cuttings ceremonies will be held as well.
"We hope to bring back what we did for several years and that is to have the city, Chamber, and school working together to make this a better community to live in."
The Tuckerman Chamber of Commerce officers are President Steve Rolley, Vice President Tracey Soden, Secretary Tina Martin, Treasurer Lisa Riley and Reporter Betty Sapp.
Anyone interested in joining that has not been contacted may call Mayor King or Tracey Soden at the City Hall, 349-5313 or Steve Rolley.
