Edward "Eddie" Cooley is announcing his bid for Jackson County Quorum Court, District 8, subject to the Democratic primary in May.
Cooley is a lifelong resident of Newport and Jackson County and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He and his wife, Susan, have a daughter, Allison, a ninth grade student at Newport High School. They are members of the First Presbyterian Church of Newport.
He has been the caretaker of Walnut Grove Cemetery for the past 15 years.
Cooley is a member of the Newport Area Chamber of Commerce and has been actively involved with Depot Days and other Chamber of Commerce activities. He works with the Newport Athletic Booster Club and is very active with the Newport Odyssey of the Mind Booster Club, where he heads up all fund raising activities.
He has been attending Jackson County Quorum Court meetings for over the past year to acquaint himself with the problems facing the Quorum Court.
