The Tuckerman City Council voted unanimously to allow Every Child is Ours to assume the responsibly of preparing lunches at the senior center in Tuckerman during a special meeting last Thursday night.
ECIO will provide the lunches until an alternative agency can be located to provide the service and has applied for a grant to supply the funding. The city must pay for utility bills, liability insurance and rent for the center.
Lawn care, building maintenance and fuel for the center’s van must also be provided by the city.
The Crowley’s Ridge Development Council had previously provided the lunches at the center, but budget cuts have forced the CRDC to eliminate these services in some small towns.
City officials also discussed the fate of the town’s assisted living center. The Council chose to table the issue until the next meeting scheduled for Thursday May 20 at 6 p.m. in Tuckerman City Hall.
