The Downtown Newport Farmers Market is open for business every Wednesday and Saturday beginning at 7:00 a.m. on the parking lot of the Newport Business Resource Center.
The market opened for the 2010 season on Saturday, May 22nd.
The number of vendors and customers is increasing weekly as more produce becomes available.
According to Ann Hearn, Market Manager, several vegetables were available last Saturday including green beans, red potatoes, Yukon gold potatoes, sweet potatoes, radishes, yellow squash, zucchini, banana peppers, onions, and green tomatoes. Other items available included fresh eggs, various plants and craft items. All of the items are grown or produced in the area.
