An accident at the construction site for the new elementery school led to the death of a Pocahontas man last Wednesday.
According to an incident report from the Newport Police Department, Benjamin Matthew Walls of Pocahontas was transported by ambulance to Harris Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.  The 29-year old was working as a sub-contractor at the site, and the preliminary investigation indicates Walls died as the result of an accident.  Newport Officer Carl Schlotzhauer and Detective Kyle Williford performed an investigation at the scene of the accident, and it will be investigated further by the department.
Walls, a Randolph County native, was survived by wife, Brooke, daughter, Avery, and his parents, Danny and Brenda Walls.
