ATV driver killed in two-vehicle accident

A Newport man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday evening after the Honda ATV he was driving struck a Toyota Avalon.
Lohnes "Tommy" Tiner, Jr., 47, was traveling northbound on the ATV on Ja. 214 shortly after 6 p.m. when he failed to stop at a STOP sign and struck the Toyota, which was traveling eastbound on Highway 18, in the right side.
According to the preliminary fatal crash summary prepared by Cpl. David Dixon of Arkansas State Police Troop B, Tiner was thrown from the vehicle, landing on the north side of the highway in a drainage ditch. The vehicle overturned several times and landed on the south-side ditch.
The driver of the 2000 Toyota Avalon, Linda Craig of Lake City, was not injured. The passenger, William Craig of Lake City, sustained minor injuries.
