Girl Scouts of Jackson County troops 3240 and 3244 enjoyed a trip to the Memphis Zoo for a Zoo Snooze May 21-22.
The girls and adults spent the night in one of the zoo exhibit buildings and enjoyed learning about the night animals from the Zoo Snooze Educators.
Then everyone was taken on a night safari where they learned how the food is prepared for the animals and toured the Animals of the Night exhibit where they saw a variety of bats and other animals of the night.
After the night safari, the troops were led back to their night quarters and Zoo Keepers Ms. Cassie and Ms. Kim worked with the girls on their Watching Wildlife Badge.
After a snack and a movie the troops turned out the lights for the night.
On Saturday, the troops enjoyed a day tour of the zoo and learned about hawks from one of the zoo keepers.
The troops were able to visit one of the newest exhibits at the zoo, Teton Park.
This park allowed the girls to view brown bears wrestling, elk, and wolves.
Sea lions entertained everyone showing how they could play Frisbee, ball and recycle a soda bottle thrown in the water.
Finally everyone enjoyed a picnic before choosing souvenirs from the gift shop.
