Man receives 32-year sentence for burglary

A Blytheville man was sentenced December 14, 2009 to 384 months in prison after pleading guilty to burglaries in Jackson County Circuit Court.
Lavar Burton Canada, 30, of Blytheville was sentenced by Circuit Judge Harold S. Erwin of Newport during a court appearance at the Jackson County Courthouse.
Canada plead guilty to three counts of residential burglary, one count of commercial burglary, four counts of theft of property and one count of criminal mischief in the first degree.
Canada was also given a 360 month suspended sentence after completing the prison term in the Arkansas Department of Correction.
The state was represented by Third Judicial Prosecuting Attorney Henry H. Boyce, Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Rob Ratton and Jackson County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Steven G. Howard.  Canada was represented by public defender, Randall Rudisill of Newport.
