Mrs. Alma Jane (Waller) Tubbs, age 72, of Cash, died Friday, June 19, 2009.

Louise F. Knouse, 89, of Harrisburg, Pa. passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, Pa.

Calvin Elbert Miller, son of Jesse J. and Gertrude (Hudgens) Miller was born March 29, 1926 in Oxford (Izard County), the 11th of 12 brothers and sisters. He was raised in the Hickory Grove Community where his family farmed after relocating to Jackson County. He was of the Baptist belief. He served his country in World War II in Germany and Belgium as certified armored tank driver. Upon his discharge from the United States Army he returned to Jackson County and married Fredia Mae (Byrd) on Dec. 10, 1945. Fredia was the daughter of Willie and Margaret (Brownfield) Byrd.

Pamela Brown, age 46, of Newport, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Newport.

Mr. James Herbert McFarland died Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Harris Hospital in Newport, at the age of 88.

Mrs. Barbara Netidire Hickman, age 82, of Amagon departed this life on Thursday, June 11, 2009.

William H. Heard, Sr., a native of Newport, and, since 2001 a resident at Sherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sherwood, died June 4, 2009.
