J. C. McMinn passed away September 8, 2018

Mr. J. C. McMinn of Searcy, Arkansas, formerly of Newport, departed this life on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the age of 83.  He was born November 21, 1934, in the Remmel Community, the son of Jodie C. and Preston (Clark) McMinn.

Mr. McMinn was a 1952 graduate of Newport High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  Following college, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served in the Medical Corp. 

He married Miss Jo Edwards on November 24, 1956, and together they spent 61 years, raised their family, enjoyed grandchildren, and were active members of their church and community. 

Mr. McMinn began working for McDonald Equipment Company as an agricultural equipment salesman in 1961 and retired after 39 years as Manager in 1999.  He did not have customers, he had friends.  Mr. McMinn was an encourager, who loved everyone he met.  He had an immense love of his family, church family, and many friends. 

Mr. McMinn was a member of the Kiwanis Club.  He was a devoted member of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon and an Elder for many years.  After moving to Searcy, he was a member of the Cloverdale Church of Christ.

Mr. McMinn was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jo McMinn of the home; one son, Mark McMinn and wife, Vicki of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; one daughter, Mari McMinn of Searcy, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Caleb McMinn and wife, Sarah, Marissa Puckett and husband, Robie, Caitlyn McMinn, and Ryan Pierce; one great-grandchild, Ryder McRae Puckett; and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at the Holden Avenue Church of Christ beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday, with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will be in Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Raymond Davis, R.M. Bledsoe, Caleb McMinn, Ryan Pierce, John Clark, J.V. Camp, and Robie Puckett.  Honorary pallbearers are the Elders and Deacons of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ, Members of the NHS Class of 1952, and the Windjammers Coffee Club.
