Mrs. Lottie Hightower, 90, of Newport died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009 at Batesville.  She was born Oct. 2, 1919 in Jackson County, the daughter of Andrew and Myrtle (Goodwin) Hightower.
Mrs. Hightower was preceded in death by the nephew she raised, Charles Hightower; three brothers, A.L. Hightower, Gene Hightower, and Jesse Hightower; one sister, Elsie Hightower; and her parents.
She is survived by three nieces, Doris Hightower of Newport, Jackie Hoyle of Cabot, and Sandy Smotherman of Newport; her sister-in-law, Edith Partee of Newport; a nephew, Butch Hightower of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one great-nephew, Michael Hightower and wife, Linda; and five great-great nieces, Pamalla Mason, Kimberley Riley, Jennifer Riley, Harley Hightower, and Natalie Sutton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment followed in Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 from 6-9 p.m.
