Mr. Jerry Wayne Baumgarner of Newport died Monday, July 26, 2010 at McCrory. He was born June 6, 1946 in Beedeville, the son of Edgar and Daisy (Clark) Baumgarner.
Mr. Baumgarner was a farm hand and a member of Tupelo Assembly of God. He was a United States Army veteran, and enjoyed fishing and drag racing.
Mr. Baumgarner was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Pruitt) Baumgarner; his parents; one brother, Ed Baumgarner; and one niece, Tammy Baumgarner.
He is survived by one son, John Baumgarner and wife, Patricia, of Newport; two daughters, Christy Whatley and husband, Bo, of Augusta, and Kathy Baumgarner of San Angelo, Texas; one step-daughter, Becki Hodges of Augusta; one brother, Leroy Baumgarner of Tupelo; one sister, Ann Alliston of McCrory; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Dewhitt, Cody Dewhitt, Tina Whatley, Jamie Whatley, Derric Ireland, Benjamin Whatley, and Jasmine Clark; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Christian Lowe, Jaden Whatley, Chloe Whatley, Latisha Williams, and Oshen Hollis; and one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in White Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 30, 2010 from 6-9: p.m.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Atkins, Keith Baumgarner, Chris Baumgarner, Harold Clark, Justin Baumgarner and Kenny Mann. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ricky Don Ellis and Billy Ray.
