According to the Associated Press Arkansas' state treasurer Martha Shoffner was arrested over the weekend at her home in Newport and accused Monday of taking at least $36,000 in cash — sometimes stashed in a pie box — from a broker who later came to manage a large share of the state's $3.3 billion stock and bond portfolio.

Arkansas State University-Newport and the AARP are joining forces again to present a Driver Safety course on the ASUN Campus.  The course will be held Saturday, May 18.  The course will begin at 10:00 a.m. and is approximately four hours long.  The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members.
