The Newport Greyhounds traveled to Southside for a team camp on Thursday, July 13th. Last week marked the return of the 2017 Greyhounds to practice. Monday and Wednesday are reserved for FAS Hounds, working on fundamentals, agility, speed and weight training. Tuesday is football practice and Thursday the Hounds travel to team camp.
In attendance on Thursday were Searcy, Jacksonville, England and the host
Southside. The Greyhounds played hard and show great promise for the 2017 season. Leading the pack is Junior Quarterback Cash Forrester. Of all the players, Junior Receiver Julius Clark stood out as a strong asset for the season, making several good catches. Bash Brother Senior Oshae Pruitt is ready to lead the Mad Dog Defense, which includes younger brother Julius Pruitt. Running Backs Joe Brodus, Zack Cooper and Sophomore Monquell Cox have great legs and plenty of speed.
The Greyhounds will kick off the season on the road for a scrimmage against Highland Tuesday, August 22nd at 7 pm.
