The Newport Jr. High Greypups, as well as the 7th grade, remain undefeated this 2017 football season. The Greypups are 6-0 with three games remaining on schedule. The Greypups hosted Piggott on Thursday, October 5th at Greyhound Field. The Greypups crushed the Jr. High Mohawks 42-8.
    Offensively, the Greypups had a total of 282 yards. Rushing leaders included Tharon Davis with three carries for 77 yards and a touchdown, Keyron Childress with two carries for 60 yards and a touchdown, Quarterback Eli Alcorn had a single carry for 26 yards, and Larry Culclager had two carries for three yards.     Quarterback Eli Alcorn was 5/6 for 129 yards and three touchdowns. Receiving leaders include Tharon Davis with one reception for seven yards and Jardarius “Nunk” Reed made four receptions for 122 yards.
    Defensively, the Greypups are on their way to being legendary “Mad Dogs”. Jadarius Reed had two tackles for a loss, two sacks, and four tackles, for a total of eight tackles with a forced fumble and fumble recovery ending in a 26 yard touchdown run. Other defensive leaders include Jakevyin Davis with five tackles, Weston Henderson, Chris Reynolds, Eli Alcorn and Antwon Hardaway with four tackles each, Tristan Griffin made three tackles, followed by Tharon Davis, Tyler Johnson, Jazper Jackson, Evan Solis, Larry Culclager, Jagger Robinson, Keyron Childress, and Malik Rucker with two each. Brady Cook, Desmond Grady and Jacob Murry each made a tackle for a total of 50 Greypup tackles.
    The defense had five penalties for 30 yards. Jagger Robinson punted the ball for 31 yards. Jadarius Reed had a punt return for 15 yards and Reynolds returned a kickoff for 12 yards.
    The Greypups host Corning tonight at Greyhound Field. Kickoff set for 7 pm. Make plans to attend!
