The Newport High School Sr. High Track Team won Overall 2nd place on Thursday, April 5th at the Riverview Raider Track Meet. Head Boy’s Track Coach Ben Reynolds and Head Girl’s Track Coach Josh Goodon were thrilled by the performance of the teams.

            “Senior Michael Corbridge won his heat in the 400M Dash and came in 6th place overall,” states Coach Reynolds. “Corbridge works hard and few of the team want to run the 400M. He really stepped up and helped the team.” In the running events, the 4x1M Relay Team, which includes Mitchell Thomas, James Dixon, Oshae Pruitt and Tydrell Friar, won 1st place. Oshae Pruitt and Tydrell Friar tied for 3rd place in the 100M Dash, and James Dixon placed 6th in the 200M Dash. Lady Hound Takeyah Worsham took 5th place in 100M Dash and Taniya Keener won 4th place in 100M Dash. The Lady Hound 4x400 Relay won 4th place, which consists of Takeyah Worsham, Keria Worsham, Chanel Johnson, and Taniya Keener.

            The Greyhounds not only run fast, but are great in the field events as well. Mitchell Thomas won 1st place in the Triple Jump and placed 2nd in the High Jump. 

In the Long Jump, TK Friar brought home the 4th place ribbon and Larry Nicholson the 6th place ribbon. Oshae Pruitt placed 6th in the Shot Put. The Lady Hounds were an equal force at the meet. Keira Worsham won 4th place in the High Jump, 5th place in the Triple Jump, and 7th place in the Long Jump. Chloe Hardaway placed 10th place in Long Jump.
