The Newport High Whippets attended a 2018-2019 Dance Clinic July 27th through July 29th.  During the three-day camp, the dance team learned a wide-variety of material for the upcoming school year. The girls participated in multiple classes ranging from pom routines, hip hop dance to jazz dance. The camp served as a resource to help heighten individual and team skills.

The team participated in three dance evaluations, including Pom Dance, Hip Hop Dance, and Jazz Dance. Team members received multiple Superior and Excellent Ribbons, as well as the team 2018 Superior Trophy.

The Whippets received many individual awards. Kayla Fite (Junior) and Sequoyah King (Senior) were awarded All-American Dancers. Drill Down Winners include Queen Kayla Fite, First Runner Up J'Kaiva Gist and Second Runner Up Mickaal Johnson. The Coach's Superior Awards were awarded to Kayla Fite, Hilda Price (sophomore), Savanah Scudamore (senior) and Nia Wren (8th grade). The  UDA Instructor Individual Awards include the Always Smiling Award  J'Kaiva Gist,

Full Out Award Sequoyah King and Hilda Price, True Leader Award Kayla Fite and the 110% Award to Lucy Hernandez (sophomore).

            The 2018 Whippets are led by Captain Shandreah Wheeler, Co-Captain Kayla Fite, and Choreographer Kayla Fite. Great Job Ladies!
