Newport Youth Football League hosted the 2018 Jamboree on Saturday, August 25th. The jamboree is held every year and is alternated to the various schools within the NEA Youth Football League on a five-year rotation. Twenty youth football schools were in attendance. Each school brought both a 5th and 6th grade team for a total of forty. The day was a huge success thanks to the unbelievable support of the community, parents, Greyhound coaches and the NHS Greyhound team volunteers.
The games began at 10 am and concluded that evening at 6:20 pm. The Greyhound coaching staff ran the games efficiently and effectively. The Pee Wee Football teams and Pee Wee Cheerleaders helped with all activities, including admissions, t-shirt sales, as well as trash pickup. All the students were amazingly helpful.
The concession volunteers included the Junior Auxiliary of Jackson County. In addition to the concession, the Newport Youth Football asked Deanna Long of Long Tropical Snow to add variety and a special treat to the festivities. Tropical Snow served 1100 and donated $ 550 to the league. The event raised need funds to run the Pee Wee Football program. The annual Jamboree is a huge part of how the league operates financially.
Thank you to all those who helped make the event a huge success! Go Pups!
