Wide receiver Julius “Julio” Charles Pruitt just completed his first season as a part of the National Football League.
Pruitt, of Newport, was signed to the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins in September and spent the season learning the NFL.
He is the son of Willie and Laura Pruitt of Newport. He has two sisters, Danyell Wren and Shareeka Alcorn and two brothers, David and Koren Pruitt.
Pruitt is a 2004 graduate of Newport High School and played collegiately at Ouachita Baptist University through the 2008 season.
Pruitt was scheduled to return to Newport this week before returning to school to work towards his degree. He will resume working towards his NFL dream in March as part of his two-year contract with the team.
