The Tuckerman Bulldogs (31-7) rode strong pitching and timely hitting to the 2009 Ozark Sr. Prep League Tournament crown last weekend.
The Bulldogs dropped Cave City 11-1 in the tournament's opening round before upending Newark 9-3 to advance to the championship game where they defeated Southside for the tournament title.
In the opener, Zach Shipman picked up the victory as he allowed one run on five hits and struck out seven. Cade Niswonger, Jeff Manuel, Shipman and Chase Gates all had RBIs for Tuckerman.
Gates picked up the victory for the Bulldogs in game two as he allowed three runs on five hits and struck out 12. Shipman led the offense with a two-run homerun while Trey Francis, Will Hubbard, Josh Cooper and Jake Hitt each drove in a run.
In the championship game, Hitt was the winning pitcher as he fanned 14 in seven innings while allowing only one run on three hits. Trevor Adams provided the big blow for Tuckerman with a two-run homer. Spencer Shannon and Gates also drove in a run.
