Both Newport and Tuckerman will be busy this spring as they were recently awarded tournament sites for baseball and softball.
Newport will host the 4A-East regional May 7-10 in softball after hosting the 3-4A district tournament a week earlier.
Tuckerman will host the 3A-Region 3 tournament in both baseball and softball.
It will be the third consecutive year for the Bulldogs to host the dual tournaments. The district tournament for Tuckerman will be held at Corning.
The Newport baseball regional tournament will be held at Valley View High School the same weekend while Trumann will host the 3-4A district tournament.
State tournament sites were also awarded for spring sports and the 4A baseball state tournament will be held in Rogers while the 3A state tournament was awarded to Bergman.
In softball, the 4A state tournament will be held in Nashville while Parkers Chapel will host the 3A state tournament. State tournaments will begin May 14.
The basketball regional for Newport will be held Feb. 24-27 at Heber Springs while Tuckerman’s basketball regional will be in Manila.
The 4A state tournament will be held March 2-6 in Highland while the 3A state tournament will be held in Jessieville.
Pocahontas will host the 4A state tournament in track and field April 29-May 1 while the Meet of Champions will be held May 8 at Lake Hamilton.
