The Zone 2 American Legion AA Tournament went exactly to form as regular season champion Harrison rolled through the four-team field outscoring their opponents 37-6, while the other three teams battled to their game's final outs.
Harrison rolled to a 10-0 victory over Newport's George Kell Motors in the opening round before disposing of Pocahontas 11-6 in the finals of the winner's bracket and again 16-0 in three innings in the championship game to earn Zone 2's number one seed in this weekend's state tournament to be played at Harrison.
Pocahontas will be the second seed from Zone 2.
The NEA Cyclones of Pocahontas advanced by dispatching Armorel twice, 9-8 and 6-5, with walk-off wins in the bottom of the seventh inning each time.
Armorel, the three-seed heading into the tournament knocked off Kell Motors with a walk-off win of their own, 5-4, in an elimination game.
Harrison 10

Newport managed only one hit - a lone single by John Robinson - and committed eight errors in a nightmare opening round contest by Kell Motors as they fell 10-0 in six innings.
Brandon Taylor picked up the win for Harrison as he allowed one hit over six innings and struck out nine while walking only one.
Chase Gates suffered the loss for Newport as he allowed eight runs - one earned - on five hits and struck out one while walking four.  Zach Shipman allowed one unearned run on two hits and struck out one.  Aaron Coots allowed one unearned run on one hit in two-thirds of an inning.

Pocahontas battled back from deficits of 6-1 and 8-6 to defeat Armorel 9-8 when Curtis Durham delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Kurt Light with the game-winning run.
Jack Baltz picked up the victory on the mound as he worked two innings of relief allowing two unearned runs on three hits and struck out two.  Spencer Thielemier allowed six runs on three hits and struck out four while walking five.
Baltz also led the Pocahontas offense with two hits and scored two runs while Light and Colten Simpson drove in two runs each.
Taylor Hopper led Armorel with two hits and drove in a run while also scoring one.  Tyler Byrd also scored twice.
Armorel 5

Armorel scored a pair of runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead, a pair in bottom of the third inning to break a 2-2 tie and one lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the host, Kell Motors home, for the 2010 season.
Newport scored two runs in the top of the third inning when Matthew Duvall singled with one out and stole second base.  A Trevor Adams single put runners on the corners for Zach Shipman who knotted the game with a basehit.
After Armorel scored twice in the bottom of the frame to retake the lead, Kell Motors battled back again to tie the contest.
Adams scored in the top of the fifth inning as he drew a one-out walk.  After stealing second base, he scored on a two-out RBI single by John Robinson.
Newport tied the game in the top of the sixth inning when Ethan Bise led off with a single and was balked to second base.  A sacrifice bunt by Austin Ivy pushed the tying run to third base where Bise would later score on a wild pitch.
Armorel would win the game in the home half of the seventh inning as they sandwiched singles around a strikeout and a hit batter to load the bases.  Ty Waggoner, the winning pitcher for Armorel, scored the winning run on a wild pitch.
Waggoner allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out seven while walking six.
Chase Gates picked up the loss in relief as he allowed one run on four hits and struck out two while walking one.  Duvall allowed four runs on five hits and struck out seven while walking four.
Tyler Byrd led Armorel with a 3 for 4 day at the plate and drove in a run while also scoring one.
Aaron Coots and Bise led Kell Motors with two hits each while Duvall, Adams, Shipman and Robinson had one hit each.  Shipman drove in two runs and Robinson added an RBI.
Harrison 11

Harrison built a 9-0 lead through four and a-half innings before Pocahontas scored five times in the fifth inning and left the bases loaded to trim the lead to 9-5.
However, Harrison managed to push across two insurance runs in the sixth inning to pull away for an 11-6 victory.
Curtis Clark picked up the victory for Harrison as he allowed five runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings.  He also struck out eight and walked three.  Hunter Myers allowed one run on two hits and struck out four in 2.1 innings of relief.
Curtis Durham suffered the loss for Pocahontas as he allowed nine runs on six hits and struck out two while walking three in four innings.  Colten Simpson allowed two runs on one hit and walked two while striking out one in three innings of relief.
Michael Faddis had two hits to lead the Harrison offense while Will Reed and Brett Edmonson drove in two runs each.
Jack Baltz, Kurt Light and Thomas Kingsland had two hits each to lead the NEA Cyclones.

Trailing 5-2 in the top of the seventh inning Armorel battled back for three runs to tie the game and left runners on at second and third base.  
It seemed the NEA Cyclones of Pocahontas had them right where they wanted them as Trevor Poe singled with one out, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on an RBI single by Bo French to send them past Armorel and into this weekend's AA State Tournament.
Poe was 3 for 4 and scored three times in the victory while Jack Baltz, French and Thomas Kingsland had two hits each for Pocahontas.  
Zac Skelton led the Armorel offense as he banged out a 4 for 4 day at the plate and scored one while also driving in one.  Tyler Byrd and Jonathan Baker had two hits for Armorel.
Harrison 16

Pocahontas managed only three singles and a walk off Harrison pitching in three innings but it was the Harrison offense the NEA Cyclones had no answer for as they scored three runs in the first, 11 in the second and two more in the third to earn the run-rule victory and a Zone 2 championship.
Curtis Clark led a balanced offense for Harrison with two hits.  Harrison also received six walks, had five batters hit-by-pitch and were the recipients of two Pocahontas errors.
Jon Miller picked up the victory for Harrison.
