Twelve Arkansas State football players have been named preseason All-Sun Belt Conference in the 2009 edition of Phil Steele’s College Football Preview publication.
Seven Red Wolves were selected on defense, four on offense and one on special teams, with three players earning first-team honors.
Senior running back Reggie Arnold was named to the first-team offense for the second consecutive year and was joined on the first team by senior defensive end Alex Carrington and junior defensive tackle Bryan Hall.
Senior quarterback Corey Leonard, senior defensive tackle Khari Mays and senior placekicker Josh Arauco all earned second-team honors, with senior guard Dominic Padrta, junior strong safety M.D. Jennings and senior free safety Evan Van Dolah all earning third-team recognition.
Senior wide receiver Brandon Thompkins, senior linebacker Greg Hardy and junior linebacker Darius Glover all were named to the fourth team.
In addition to Arnold’s second consecutive first-team selection, Carrington, Leonard, Arauco and Van Dolah all appeared on Steele’s 2008 All-SBC teams as well.
