Surpassing the competition at the 29th Annual Colgate Country Showdown North Arkansas State Final, Larry Lee Cheshier proved worthy of the state title and $1,000.
The Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock showcased acts who had won a local contest sponsored by radio stations throughout the state enabling each to perform at the state level competition of America’s largest country music talent search. Cheshier, representing radio station KOKR of Searcy, triumphed at the state level event. This singer/songwriter has been singing and playing guitar for many years. With life in the south as writing inspiration, is gaining fans from all over. At the state competition Cheshier won over the crowd with original songs, "Kiss My Past" and "Hillbilly Love."
Other sponsoring radio stations were: KBEL, Idabel, Okla.; KSSN, Little Rock; KZHE, Magnolia; and KENA, Mena.
Dec. 4, Cheshier will compete in the Southeast Regional at ChristmasVille in Rock Hill, S.C. to determine if he will advance to the National Final. Regional Winners will receive an all-expense-paid trip to perform on the stage of the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville to compete for $100,000 and the coveted title, “Best New Act in Country Music.”
