Newport Elementary 6th grade Gifted and Talented students are participating in the Stock Market Game. The students are divided into nine teams with their friends to work on the endeavor for twelve weeks. The game began Monday, January 28th and will continue through April 18th.  The cost of the game is covered by the AGATE parent organization. The Stock Market Game is sponsored by the SIFMA (Securities Industry and Financial markets Association Foundation). The Foundation is a 501(c)3 educational organization dedicated to fostering knowledge of the financial markets since 1977.

Each team is given $ 100,000 to invest for twelve weeks, competing against other teams in Northeast Arkansas. More about the game can be found at www.stockmarketgame.com. “I am really trying to push personal financial education for these students. They are our future,” states Ronnie Kay Erwin, Director of Special Programs.
