Jane (Williams) Simmons passed away February 2018
Mrs. Jane (Williams) Simmons of Lake City, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at the age of 69. She was born July 29, 1948 at Walnut Ridge, the daughter of Fred and Ruby Lee (Lewis) Williams.
Mrs. Simmons was a graduate of Newport High School. She continued her education at Arkansas State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Simmons was a retired school teacher, beginning her career as a kindergarten teacher at Marked Tree. During the 1980’s, she taught Adult Education in Jonesboro, moving to Cave City to teach kindergarten and preschool in the 1990’s. Mrs. Simmons completed her tenure at Cherub House Preschool in Jonesboro, before retiring in 2005.
She was a member of New Haven Church of Christ. Some of her favorite activities involved visiting and cooking for sick church members. Mrs. Simmons was known for always remembering the birthdays of the children at church.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and loved being with her friends at the Senior Center. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her family.
Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Kennedy M. Simmons of Lake City; three sons, Adam Simmons and wife, Karey, of Springdale, Seth Simmons and wife, Jenny, of Rogers, and Joseph Simmons and wife, Adrienne of White House, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Carson, Brooklyn, Brilyn, Kennedy, and Kylie; several uncles, aunts, other family, and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel.
Members of the Lake City Senior Center will serve as honorary pallbearers.
