Virginia Christine Oliver passed away January 2, 2019

Virginia Christine Oliver, long-time resident of Jackson County, slipped quietly away from the bonds of this earth on January 2, 2019, at home in Fayetteville, AR. In her lifetime, Chris lived among, worked and worshipped with a host of loving family members and friends. Many will remember her for her love of cooking and baking, which brought her great joy as she rendered her offerings to others. Some will also recall being the lucky recipient of one of her beautiful hand-sewn or needle crafted garments and furnishings. She loved the holiday traditions of gathering family together, decorating, making gifts and delighting others. Chris loved to travel and relished an opportunity to live abroad for three years as well as her many opportunities to travel with family members. She had a deep affection for her “fur babies,” Bella, Merlie and Wally. Chris attended Bradford High School and was a graduate of The University of Arkansas Little Rock. She was a curious, life-long learner who enjoyed reading, genealogy research and writing stories. As a parting gift to life and learning, she donated her body to the advancement of medical science.

Chris is greatly loved and survived by:

Daughters: Peggy Oliver Morgan of Fayetteville, AR, and Teresa (Teri) Oliver Dillingham, currently residing in The Netherlands with husband, COL Thomas Dillingham.

Grandchildren: Ashley Marie Morgan of Fayetteville, AR and CPT Zach Dillingham, MD, of El Paso, Texas.

Brothers: J.W. Johnson, Donald Ray Johnson and James L. “Shorty” Johnson and their families.

Sister: Martha Ann (Johnson) Boyle and family.

She was preceded in death and will be welcomed by her husband Orval T. Oliver, her parents, two brothers, three half-sisters, a niece and nephew as well as other extended family and long-time friends.

A memorial service will be held at Dillinger’s Funeral Home in Newport, AR, on Friday, January 11 at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local Humane Society.

Arrangements by Dillinger Funeral Home.
