Orville Odell Dossett, age 80, of Newport, Arkansas, passed on Sunday, May 19, 2019.

Orville was born to Leonard Odell Dossett and Opal Irene (Smith) Dossett on May 9,

1939, in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas, on the family farm in a house built by his grandfather.

 He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on March 18, 1957, and served as a Construction Mechanic

stationed at Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE in Port Hueneme, CA, and

Okinawa where he earned his high school equivalency certificate (GED) in 1959. He was

honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on April 25, 1960, and moved back to

Arkansas.

He leaves as his legacy three children: William Odell Dossett, Debra Lela Ann (Dossett)

Robinson, and Robert Michael Dossett.  He also leaves to cherish his memory nine

grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father

Leonard, mother Opal, wife Wilma, and son in law, Ricky Robinson.

Orville was a vehicle and heavy equipment mechanic with Texas Eastern Pipeline Corp

until he was disabled in 1973.  He was a Mason, Shriner, and member of the VFW and

American Legion. His other interests included CB radios, photography, home movies,

bowling, and playing cards and dominoes. He was well known for being a generous man.

He loved eating fresh strawberries and vanilla ice cream.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Dillinger funeral home in Newport,

AR, and burial at Pleasant Plains Cemetery with military honors where he will be laid to

rest next to his mother. Visitation will be at Dillinger Funeral Home on Friday, May 24,

2019. The family has requested that flowers be ordered from Hopes and Dreams Florist,
